Renovating parish benches

Did you know the parish council have 22 benches around the Green? The oldest bench commemorates the 1897 Jubilee, the newest is the children’s bench located in 2024. The memorial bench has been relocated to the top of the Green, so it is no longer sitting under the trees by Wear pond. We have benches located at a number of locations in the parish including Oxney Green and Paradise Road playgrounds and both allotment sites. The parish council have recently started a programme to refurbish the benches. Benches will be removed from the site to be renovated. The programme is cyclical and will run over a number of years.
