About the Charity
Chelmsford Community Transport is a registered charity, formed to help reduce loneliness and
isolation within all parishes of Chelmsford.
Providing door to door, accessible and affordable transport, the service is perfect for those with a
transport need; whether you are an older person, disabled, in need of medical transport or rurally
isolated, we are here to help.
Regularly transporting passengers to: Respite Day Centres, Lunch Clubs, Coffee Mornings, Shopping,
Medical appointments and more!
There is a small annual registration fee per year.
Journeys should be booked at least 48 hours in advance and regular bookings can be arranged.
Services
Door to Door Minibus Transport
Passengers can use their bus passes on this service. A fare can be paid if no bus pass held.
Transport available for any reason within the Chelmsford parishes.
Wheelchair accessible minibuses with tail lifts that are also available for frailer passengers.
Drivers are all DBS checked and experienced with transporting vulnerable passengers.
Community Car Service
Passengers can use this service to access facilities in Chelmsford and further afield if they have a
transport need.
This service is particularly useful for passengers needing to visit Braintree, Basildon, Southend
Hospitals etc. but can also be used for other reasons.
A fare is payable that is up to half the cost of a local taxi. Fares based upon distance.
Excursion Club
This sought after service is one of the highlights of our passengers’ week!
Each week (subject to availability) passengers are taken to various places of interest.
Places visited in the past include, Southend, Maldon, garden centres, Christmas/Craft fayres, horse
sanctuaries, boat trips, pub lunches and more!
A small fare is payable depending upon location.
Volunteering
The charity always welcomes new volunteers.
Car and Minibus Driver Volunteers can be flexible with the days they volunteer or offer a set day
each week – there is no commitment needed.
Car drivers should have a 4 door car and a clean driving licence.
Minibus drivers should have a D1 category on their licence.

Outdoor Table Tennis

There is an outdoor table tennis table outside the pavillion at Paradise Road.  This is part of the PING PONG initiative run by Chelmsford City Council.  Bats and balls are available from the pavillion.

Paradise Road Play Area

The playground in Paradise Road was redesigned in 2014. It was funded by Maztec, the company that ran the ‘V Festival’.

The play area at Paradise Road is enclosed. The playground is suitable for children up to 12 years. There are several climbing frames with slides and different climbs including climbing walls and ladders. There is also a zipwire and several swings. There is also a small climb on train.
