National Grid’s Statutory Consultation for Pylons Project

National Grid has launched its Statutory Consultation for Norwich to Tilbury which is open until 11:59pm on Tuesday 18 June 2024

National Grid is proposing to upgrade the electricity transmission system in East Anglia between Norwich and Tilbury. The Project includes a new 400 kilovolt (“kV”) electricity transmission connection of approximately 184 kilometres (“km”) in overall length from Norwich Main Substation and Tilbury Substation via Bramford Substation.

Writtle Parish Council has strongly objected to the previous consultations.  Please click on the following link to see the response from the non statutory consultation in August 2023. FINAL Writtle Parish Council response to the National Grid Consultation August 2023.  The council will be considering its response to the current consultation over the forthcoming weeks and will upload it here.  This is a chance to for everyone to have their say on the proposals and it is important for residents to respond.

The council held its Annual Parish meeting on Monday, 15 April and was pleased to have Rosie Pearson in attendance from Pylons East Anglia as one of its guest speakers.  Rosie suggested several ways that residents could object to the consultation including responding to the consultation, signing the petition, and displaying posters.
