Joint Statement from All Saints Church and the Parish Council.

There are many events we look forward to at this time of year, and Remembrance is one of them. Traditionally, there would be a service in church on Remembrance Sunday, followed by a public gathering at the Memorial on the Green for the laying of wreaths and reading of names.

But because of Covid-19, Remembrance simply cannot be done in the traditional way this year, and we are deeply saddened by that.

What we can do however, is still have a church service at 10am on Remembrance Sunday, 8 November, at which the Chair of the Parish Council will read the names, the 2-minute silence will be observed, and the fallen will be remembered. But there will be no gathering at the Memorial on the Green.

We can only seat 70 people maximum in church to be Covid-secure, so please be aware that if more than that number of people turn up we will sadly have to turn them away.

Thank you for your understanding, for your care of each other by not putting others at undue risk, and we simply ask for your prayers and thoughts and ever-present respect for those who gave their lives for the hope of a better future for coming generations.

Update: Road closure for bridge strengthening works, Lordship Culvert, Cow Watering Lane, Writtle, Chelmsford

From Essex Highways.

Further to our previous correspondence, we would like to provide you with an update concerning the bridge strengthening works at Lordship Culvert located on Cow Watering Lane, Writtle, Chelmsford.

We acknowledge concerns relating to the planned start date and on this occasion have been able to reschedule the works to commence the following week. Works are planned to start on Monday 26 October 2020 and expected to take one week to complete.

In order to support these works it will be necessary to close Cow Watering Lane at the junction with Lordship Road to all vehicles 24 hours a day for the duration of the works. A signed diversion route will be in place using the following roads: Lordship Road, Roxwell Road, Old Roxwell Road, Cow Watering Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained on Lordship Road at all times.

It may have seemed that we have been quite quiet recently, but we have been waiting for a vital decision to be made before we could proceed further.

I am now pleased to report that we have received formal confirmation from Chelmsford City Council Planners that the Neighbourhood Plan will not require the preparation of a Strategic Environmental Assessment ( SEA) or a Habitats and Species Assessment ( HSA). This is following consultation with the Environment Agency, Historic England and Natural England.  Had we been informed that these two technical documents were  necessary, it would have involved a much increased workload and slowed our programme considerably.

We are now able to proceed with a further round of consultation with yourselves, known as Regulation 14,  following which we will be able to submit the final draft plan to the City Council for the final formal processes necessary to take the plan forward towards final adoption. We hope to issue further information and invite your participation shortly.
